Due to an overwhelming expression of interest from players who wish to play in our U14 Div 1 team (coach TBA) and U16 Div 1 team (under Hassan), and due to the U14 try-outs for previous seasons being so successful, we have decided to again hold try-outs to ensure a fair opportunity to everyone who might be interested in joining our top-graded U14 team(s). This coming summer season we are extending the try-outs to the U16 age group.
Try-outs are open to all existing and aspiring Warriors U14 & U16 Boys players. This applies to all boys born 2012 and 2013 (ie. current bottom-age U14 players who are staying in U14, and current U12 players who are moving up to U14 in the upcoming summer season). And for U16s, try-outs are for boys born 2010 and 2011 (ie. current bottom-age U16 players who are staying in U16, and current U14 players who are moving up to U16 in the upcoming summer season).
Anyone who has an interest in furthering their basketball and/or has an eye on playing at representative level is strongly recommended to seize this opportunity. Please note that U14 and U16 division 1 (and div2) are extremely strong competitions, and only the keenest players will thrive in these divisions. Kids who play these divisions are usually current or aspiring representative players, and are also the sort of kid that regularly takes their ball to school, practices in their free time, and is likely hassling you to attend various clinics that are on offer for the super-keen basketballer.
Note that all spots on these teams are up for selection. Myself, Nick and Hassan (three experienced coaches and basketballers) will be grading the kids' skills and team play, and we will collaborate in putting together the best possible team(s) from the available players.
Try-out details:
WHERE: Glenroy College, 120 Glenroy Rd, Glenroy VIC 3046 (entry via Cardinal Rd)
DATE: Saturday 14th September
TIME: 9am for U14 and 10am for U16
DURATION: 1 hour per age session
NOTES: Everyone please bring a ball and water. Pre-registration is not required, simply turn up to be considered. Wearing your Warriors singlet HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, as it will allow us to note and recognise players easier.
If we have more kids than expected turn up with a desire to join a division 1 team, and if the skill level of the kids who aren't selected for the division 1 team is considered high enough, we will consider putting together a second team (div 2) to ensure that the kids who are keen get the best chance at improving their basketball.
