Programs

TEAMS

  • ​Our club has around 30 teams ranging from Under 8's mixed teams, then from Under 10's to Under 20's boys' & girls' teams.
  • Each team has at least one Coach and Team Manager who carry a valid 'Working with Children' identification card.
  • The Warriors Basketball Club is aligned to the Coburg Basketball Association's Junior Domestic Competition along with 12 other domestic clubs from around Merri-bek and surrounding councils.
  • There are two seasons throughout the year – Summer Season (Term 4 to Term 1) and Winter Season (Term 2 to Term 3).
  • A team's skill level determines what division they play in - 1 to 5 and all are celebrated equally.

TRAINING

  • Training runs once a week, on a set day and time - anywhere between 45 and 90 minutes

  • Players are expected to wear comfortable clothes (uniform not required)

Melbourne United FREE Girls Clinics

Melbourne United FREE Girls Only Clinics in May with Opals Player Alice Kunek
State Netball Centre - 17th May
  • Come and Try Clinic (aged 6-11 years) 9am – 10:30am ​Basic introductory level clinics designed for girls who are new to basketball or have very minimal experience, focusing on the fundamentals of the game, creating friends and understanding how powerful female basketball is. This clinic runs for 1.5 hours.
  • ​​​Skill Development Clinic (aged 12-18 years) – 10:30am – 12:30pm ​Detailed skill work and conceptual learnings, designed for girls with previous experience or currently playing who are looking to advance their skills, focused around developing skills and IQ, creating, standing up for and maintaining friends, as well as understanding the power of female basketball and how to represent this. This clinic runs for 2 hours.

​Sport-Related Concussion Short Course

From Connectivity - A 15-minute interactive online course which educates coaches, umpires, staff, volunteers, parents and other interested people to recognise and manage a sport-related concussion injury. The course is self-paced, so you can enrol today and complete it at any time.
