Update from the Warriors
18th January 2021 - Update
By now everyone should have received an email with their team details, coach, team manager, and training time - if you have a coach. Also training times are still provisional - some changes are still necessary to fit around coaches schedules. Training commences the week of the 1st of Feb, and first game Saturday 6th Feb.
If your team needs a coach or team manager, please consider volunteering. Our club relies on volunteers (mostly parents and siblings, but also very kind and generous friends of the club) to keep our kids playing. We have plenty of support in place for beginner coaches, including upcoming coaching courses. And a good Team Manager makes the basketball experience better for everyone involved - the Team Manager mainly being responsible for communicating between the club and the team (game times, uniform deliveries, that sort of thing). Please consider helping your child out by volunteering some of your time.
For those of you wondering about the age group your child has been placed in, allow me to explain: For the purposes of CBA Domestic Summer 2021 season, your child is considered to be the age they will be on 31st December 2021. If you're born in 2004, then you are 17 as far as CBA is concerned, meaning you have to play Under-19. Additionally, unlike previous years the age groups are "odd" numbered. This temporary change was made to allow kids that played together last season to stay together after the disruption to 2020 caused by Covid. At this stage the CBA plans to return to "even" age groups for Summer 2022 season.

7th July 2020 - Update
The imposition of Melbourne-wide "lockdown" by the state government for six weeks has extended the "red-0" status for basketball until the middle of August. To reiterate, this means that no group basketball activities are permitted, in line with DHHS guidelines.
The timeline for lifting of restrictions come mid-August is unknown at this stage. We'll provide more information as it becomes available.

1st July 2020 - Update
Due to the lockdown of suburbs surrounding Coburg, the CBA under the direction of BBV had instituted a return to "red-0" status for basketball. This means a cancellation of all team-based basketball activities from midnight 1st July until 29th July 2020. A significant number of our club members come from lockdown and surrounding suburbs, so we are all doing our part to ensure the opportunities for the spread of this disease are minimised.
The CBA are hoping that post-lockdown (30th June) we'll be able to resume team training, with the goal of resuming junior competition on the 15th of August.
All of this is of course pending ongoing success in containing the Coronavirus, and governmental approval. Should there be any changes, we shall post updates here and email all our members.
