Due to an overwhelming expression of interest from players who wish to play in our U14 Div 1 team (U14B Red under Nick), and due to the U14 try-outs for winter season being so successful, we have decided to again hold try-outs to ensure a fair opportunity to everyone who might be interested in joining our top-graded U14 team(s).
Try-outs are open to all existing and aspiring Warriors U14B players. This applies to all kids born 2011 and 2012 (ie. current U14 players who are staying in U14, and current U12 players who are moving up to U14 in the upcoming summer season).
Anyone who has an interest in furthering their basketball and/or has an eye on playing at representative level is strongly recommended to seize this opportunity. Obviously our current U14B Red and Gold team members are invited to attend should they wish to be considered to join this team roster for the summer 2023/4 season. Please note that U14 division 1 (and div2) are extremely strong competitions, and only the keenest players will thrive in these divisions. Kids who play these divisions are usually current or aspiring representative players, and are also the sort of kid that regularly takes their ball to school, practices in their free time, and is likely hassling you to attend various clinics that are on offer for the super-keen basketballer.
Note that all spots on this team are up for selection. Myself, Nick, Ryan and Hassan (four experienced coaches and basketballers) will be grading the kids' skills and team play, and we will assist Nick in putting together the best possible team from the available players.
Try-out details:
WHERE: Coburg High School
DATE: Saturday 2nd September
TIME: 4pm (immediately after the final domestic game for the day at that venue)
DURATION: 1 hour
NOTES: Everyone please bring a ball and water. Pre-registration is not required, simply turn up to be considered. Wearing your Warriors singlet would be beneficial, as it will allow us to note and recognise players easier.
If we have more kids than expected turn up with a desire to join a division 1 team, and if the skill level of the kids who don't make the cut for the Red team is considered high enough, we will consider putting together a second team (div 1 or 2) to ensure that the kids who are keen get the best chance at improving their basketball.
