Registrations for Summer 2021 (expected to begin early 2021) are closed.
If you would like to talk to someone about joining one of our teams, please submit an enquiry via our Contact page.
The registration process for Summer 2021 is changing significantly compared to previous seasons. Please read on for more information.
The "age" of players for determining which age group your child plays in summer season is the child's age at 31st December 2021. This is the same rule that has been in place at the CBA since summer season 2017/18.

A Note on Coronavirus
See here for a statement regarding the CBA summer season cancellation.
At this stage when you register, we ask that you enter the discount code 693994FE at checkout to defer payment of your club registration fee (this fee will be recalculated and billed to you when the season starts, based on the actual season length). The BBV $25 annual fee is payable on registration, however the "clock" for your annual payment doesn't begin until the season begins.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding the start of Summer season, we request that everyone intending to play register as per normal. The CBA hasn't extended the deadlines associated with registering teams and teams with insufficient players will be removed from the competition. It is very difficult to re-create a team after it's been disbanded - players move on, coaches move on, training venues are taken up by other teams. This will only be made worse by the likely short notice we'll get for season opening. The only way we can be ready for a delayed season opening is to be ready for the start of term as originally planned.
The Warriors committee request that you register for Summer season regardless of the current goings-on.
Regarding fee payment, we are currently unable to determine the fee levels due to the uncertainty surrounding the season length. Registration fees are set at a nominal "best guess" level, however we encourage everyone to defer payment using the discount code 693994FE at checkout. You will then be invoiced once the season commences.

How To Register
As of Winter 2020 season, all registrations will be through an online system called PlayHQ. This system has been developed by Basketball Victoria specifically for the purpose of managing statewide basketball. Note: You cannot register via our "club page" on PlayHQ - you must register via the link you will see below in the instructions, repeated again at the bottom of the page for ease of access.
The system allows us to manage our registrations online, accept credit card payments, and provides online access for things such as ladders and fixtures. The website is mobile optimised and we are promised that an app for iPhone and Android that lets you view this information on your phone is in the works. PlayHQ is still very much under development, and new features are being added regularly.
In order to register your child to play, you must create an account on www.playhq.com - Please use a personal email address for your login and contact information - work email addresses often have aggressive spam filters, not to mention what happens when people move jobs or go on holidays. This account will be used to register your child, and your child will be tied to that account/email address - so if you are in a shared custody situation or something of a similar nature I strongly recommend you liaise with any other shared guardians and ensure that you are clear as to who is "in charge" of the child's PlayHQ account. If you were to use a different PlayHQ account to register a player who was previously registered, the system will not recognise that player as being the same person, and you are liable to be double-charged the Basketball Victoria annual registration fee - see below for more information.
Basketball Victoria has changed the way they charge their registration fees. Previously the BBV registration fees were included in the CBA team registration fees, and the BBV fee was paid by the CBA on behalf of all players in the association. However as part of the move to PlayHQ, starting Winter 2020 at Coburg, each player will be individually charged the Basketball Victoria annual registration fee of $25 (if under 18 years old at time of registration) or $39 (if 18 or older). This fee MUST be paid at time of registration, online, via credit card. Note that this is an annual fee, paid once per player, so the previous double-payment that would have occurred when players played in multiple teams, or in multiple competitions, has been eliminated
The CBA has not decreased their team registration fees by an amount commensurate with the BBV registration fee that was previously paid to BBV on our behalf - in effect we are seeing an increase in the CBA team registration fees.
The Warriors committee are keenly aware of the financial pressures on families, so we have decided to reduce our player registration fees by $10 per player, to $230 per player for the Winter season. We are also extending our multi-child family discount so that 2nd and subsequent children will now receive a 5% discount off their club registration fees.
The club registration fee covers cost of training venues, weekly team sheet costs, team registration fees, equipment costs, and uniform hire. A $50 refundable uniform bond is payable once per family, and will be refunded when all uniforms are returned in good condition once children cease playing with the club. The only other week-to-week fee is the venue entry fee on Saturday, currently $3 per person.
We will continue to work towards encouraging the Coburg Giants to bring you clinics for players and coaches, as well as guest coaches to your kids' training sessions. These are great opportunities for kids and coaches to improve their skills.
Note that you can still be billed and pay your club registration via EFT if you wish - credit card payments are merely another option. We won't be charging the uniform bond over credit card, as this process is manual.
The registration form should be fairly intuitive, however instructions on how to register are below should you need them.

Prerequisite - PlayHQ Membership
If you do not already have an account with PlayHQ, you will prompted to create one during the registration process. A confirmation email will be sent to that email address.
The steps shown below assume you are new to PlayHQ, and will also take you through the process of creating an account.

From Asthma to food allergies, if you think someone who is being left in charge of your child should know, you can put it here.
Please enter all guardian contact details - due to privacy regulations, BBV and PlayHQ will refuse to discuss a child's registration or basketball with anyone not listed here.
The "additional information" field is a generic field that allows you to put any additional information that is relevant to the registration. If your child wishes to play in the same team as another child, this is where you could indicate that, for example.
Coaches and team managers - please enter your WWC (or equivalent) details. For coaches 18 and under, you can leave this section blank.
When you have entered all information, click "Save and Continue".
